UE $80 Million Campaign

By: Andrew C. Briscoe

The University of Evansville recently announced the successful conclusion of its U•Envision 2010 fundraising campaign.  The campaign was launched in September 2007 with the goal of raising $80 million and the purpose of creating a stand-alone Schroeder Family School of Business Administration building, to construct a new University Center, and to increase the schools endowment above $100 million.

With the desire to be the first “Green” buildings in Vanderburgh County, both the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration (completed in two phases in 2007 and 2009) and the William L. Ridgway University Center (completed in 2008) were certified under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (“LEED”) green building rating system.  The University of Evansville’s commitment to the “Green” initiative emphasizes how important it is for those in the construction industry to educate themselves in green building and technologies.  Projects such as these signify the transition of “Green” building from being a thing of the future, to being a thing of the present – not only in Central Indiana but throughout the state.  With each new LEED project in both the private and public sectors, it becomes more evident that contractors and designers need to be well versed in “Green” building technologies to stay not only competitive, but relevant, in today’s construction market.
